Dermot makes impressive start at NI Open

The Ballymena player fired an impressive four-under par round of 67 in the opening round of the Challenge Tour event at Galgorm Castle.

Having started with a birdie on his opening hole, the 21-year-old fired five more birdies during his round.

Dermot is one of four amateur players selected by the Golfing Union of Ireland to compete alongside the professionals in the event.

The opening day of the tournament was dominated by Swedish player Joakim Lagergren, who hit a course record nine-under-par 62.
