Difficult conditions for the Thursday Open

Conditions last Thursday were very difficult with wind and heavy rain making scoring almost impossible.

That was the case for almost everyone who played, however four young men took no notice of the conditions and posted excellent scores to take the prizes.

In 3rd place was John J Lennon (12) with 39 pts.

This was a tremendous score in the worst of the weather.

I have no doubt that John will be single figures again by the end of the season.

He is determined to get his handicap down and has the game to play off 6 or 7.

A 2nd place saw a welcome return to form by Conor Mulholland (5) with 40 pts.

This is another superb effort from Conor who is a very strong hitter of the ball.

Mathew Mallon (6) breezed round in 73 to secure the best gross prize.

Not surprising when you see Mathew striking the ball off the tee.

The winner of the Thursday Open was Rory McMullen (10) again with 40 pts winning on the better 2nd nine from Conor.

Well done Rory and keep up the good work.
