Donaghy Moyola golf winner

TEN handicapper Eugene Donaghy took the honours during a weekend Sweep Stableford staged at Moyola Park Golf Club.

His winning return was 39pts, with Malachy McKee (14) second on 38pts, Aidan Kearney (15) third, 37pts, and Alastair Gilmore (12) placed fourth, 36pts.

There were 8 optional twos winners, getting 7 golf balls apiece.In similar Stableford events at the Castledawson course, results were – 1st, Darren Hutchinson (10) 37pts; 2nd, Brian Doyle (20) 36pts; 3rd, Gerard Milliagn (21) 35pts (on better back nine); 4th, Damien Larkin (11) 35pts (on better back nine).

Entries for the ladies annual Spring League are now being taken. To run from Wednesday February 13 up and including Tuesday, March 26, the entry fee of £8 must be paid when you play your first competition card.

A maximum of eight cards of which six will count,and you can play on any day within the six week period.

Enter team letter, name,date, handicap and number on card. The team draw will take place on Friday, February 8. Last round of the Ladies Coast & Country Alliance League, will be played at Antrim on February 21.

The Moyola Park team have gained 6pts at home, 2pts at Kilrea, 6pts at Roe Park and 3pts at Cushendall.

A Winter Madness competition will run up to and including Tuesday, 12th February.

This is a nine hole event,entry being £1 per card, playing as often as you like during the period.

Used will be holes 1 to 8 and the 9th as second, playing off white markers on the mens tee box.

Prizes will be awarded depending on the number of cards played.

Saturday and Sunday bring Sweep Stablefords, while Monday continues the Seniors (over 50s) Open Stablefords.

The ladies branch will hold their annual general meeting in the clubhouse on Monday, February 4, at 7pm sharp.

This year, there is to be one vacancy on the committee.

There will be a special Burns Night in the clubhouse on Saturday, January 26. The haggis will be piped in at 8pm.

Haggis starter and supper will be served, music provided by “Bits and Pieces”. Book a table now by contacting Jackie Averill. Cost is £20 per person.
