It was wet and cold conditions that faced players at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday and the winner with a score of 39 points was Eamon McConaghy.

Eamon had 23 points on his front nine holes with eight pars and only one bogey at the second hole. His back seven holes contained two bogeys at the 10th and 12th holes and five pars for a very steady round of golf considering the conditions and to win on a better back seven holes.

In second place was Ted Hardy again with 39 points, this 25 handicapper had 24 points on his front nine holes with one birdie at the 2nd for a share of the two’s money, three pars at the 1st 7th and 9th holes, two double bogeys at the 5th and 8th holes and three single bogeys at the remaining holes.

His back seven holes had five single bogeys and two double bogeys at the 11th and 13th holes.

Third with 38 points was Cormac Magee who started well with a birdie at the first hole, and along with two pars at the 2nd and 8th holes, two double bogeys at the 3rd and 9th holes and four single bogeys had 22 points for his efforts. His back seven holes included two pars at the 13th and 14th holes, three bogeys at the 10th, 12th and 18th holes and two double bogeys.

The gross prize was collected again by Fintan McAreavey with a level par round of golf. He had four birdies at the 1st, 4th, 7th and 18th holes with one double bogey at the 5th hole, two single bogeys at the 6th and 10th holes and nine pars to pick up another gross prize.

Fourth place went to Paul Toman with 37 points, Paul had 19 points on his front nine holes with one birdie at the first hole followed by five straight pars and three single bogeys. His back seven holes contained two birdies at the 14th and 18th holes, one bogey at the 12th hole, and four pars for 18 points and his total of 37 points.

Fifth place went to Daryl Patton with 36 points, he had 19 points on his front nine holes with one double bogey at the 9th hole, four pars at the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th holes and four single bogeys. His back seven holes collected him 17 points with three pars at the 10th, 11th 13th holes, one bogey at the 12th hole, two double bogeys at the 14th and 15th holes, but ended in a blaze of glory with an eagle three at the 18th hole.

The seniors prize was won by Finbar Headley with 37 points. He had 21 points on his front nine, with two bogeys at the 2nd and 5th holes and seven pars and 16 points on his back seven holes, with four pars at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th holes, one bogey at the 14th hole, one double bogey at the 15th hole and a birdie four at the last hole.

Members are reminded that the AGM is on the Sunday 8th March at the Ashburn Hotel starting at 6.30pm sharp.
