Edith wins lady Captain’s Day at Edenmore GC

Lady Captain’s Day at Edenmore Golf Club was played in beautiful sunshine from early morning.

The course was in excellent condition with beautiful blooms of coloured plants at each tee box, and the name of all the sponsors of each hole.

Lady Captain Louise Gaw was on hand to greet all the competitors and extend good wishes for their game and the all important Captains’ Day photos before going out to play.

Edith Watson won a very successful Lady Captain’s Day with a solid 41 points. Edith recovered from not scoring at the first and second holes to score 14 points in front nine. She settled down on the back nine (after some refreshments) and scored an excellent 27 points.

Congratulations to Lady Vice Captain, Margaret Robinson, finishing second, with a score of 40 points. Margaret played a very steady game.

Third place went to Cherry Logan finishing a great game with 35 points.

Heather Patterson won the Past Captain’s prize with 34 points.

Mary Falls won the 36 Handicap prize (29 points), another great game, with Colleen Hanna winning the Non-Qualifiers 9-hole competition (18 points).

Best Front Nine went to Anne Nicholson with a great score of 20 points and Gillian Murphy won Best Back Nine with 18 points.

The longest drive on the 6th hole went to Sandra Boomer and Diane Hunter was nearest the pin on the 14th. Stephanie Watson had a few aces to win the putting competition.

Visitor prizes were won as follows: Lady Visitor by Sheila McCann of Fortwilliam Golf Club (32 points) and the Visiting Gents by Mr Captain, David Donnell, with a fantastic score of 41 points.

The evening dinner was well attended by the ladies. The Lady Captain Louise was delighted to announce that her charity this year, Tiny Life, had received £990 in donations and thanked the ladies and visitors for being so generous.

Edith Watson thanked the Lady Captain for organising such an excellent day enjoyed by ladies and visitors. Edith also thanked Louise for the beautiful prizes and thanks were given to the Catering staff, Green staff and Andrew and his staff in the pro shop for all their hard work.

An excellent day was had by all.
