The overall winner was Junior Captain Conor Montgomery (08) with an excellent round of two over par 74.

After nine holes Conor was three over par but birdies at the tenth, thirteenth and the difficult eighteenth along with two further bogeys gave him a one under par score on the back nine. Conor’s nett score of 66 was two better than his nearest competitor. Second place went to Douglas Bain (20) with a nett score of 68. The low section (0 – 11) was won by Andy Gregge (07) with a nett score of 69. The middle section (12 – 18) was won by another junior in excellent form Macauley Kinnear (14) also with a nett 68. The high section (19 – 28) was won by Andrew McCorriston with a nett 69. The gross prize went to Darren McConnell (03) with a three over par round of 75. Darren played the first fifteen holes in level par he bogeyed the sixteenth parred seventeen before a double bogey at eighteen slightly spoiled an excellent card.

Sam Rutherford competition; on Thursday June 26 Rockmount’s Sam Rutherford team travelled to near neighbours Spa Golf club for the second leg of their match. Trailing by eight holes a good team performance was required. Team Captain Glenn Willis sent out new pair Ed Donaldson and Sam Milligan against John Abernethy and Colin Morrison; John and Colin were looking for ear plugs before they got off the first tee as quiet Sam began his friendly banter. The match was a close affair, it was the eighth hole before Ed and Sam opened up a two hole lead which they maintained until the eighteenth; which they lost for a one hole win.

Second out was Gents Captain Paul Banford and Conor Montgomery. The third pair was Bob Jellie and Michael Carson and the fourth pair last week’s only winning pair Henry Moore and Colin Childs. Unfortunately none of the latter pairings were able to overcome their Spa opponents and with holes running out all three of these matches were called in with Spa ahead in all three. Irish Mixed Foursomes. The Irish Mixed team travelled to Knock Golf Club to play Donaghadee Golf Club. Robert and Diane Patterson were out first, they lost 5 & 3. Barry Douds and Rosie McCrea were out second and were defeated 5 & 4. Third out was Mel and Leonie Power who suffered a heavy defeat 7 & 6. At the time Jimmy Robinson and Sue McDonagh were 3 up through twelve and Ed and Jo Donaldson were all square through eleven. A great effort by all the team against a very strong Donaghadee team; who go into the quarter finals. Junior Cowdy.
