Finals day at Prehen

ALL six of the Taylormade sponsored Matchplay finals are set to take place this evening (Wednesday) at City of Derry.

In the Club Championship Sean Quigg will have his work cut out to overcome the challenge posed by Shane Kelly who will be receiving a huge stoke allowance and he must be the favourite to take that title

In the Senior Cup Lester Moore takes on Eddie Burton who caused the biggest shock of the competition with his facile win over pre-tournament favourite Kealan Quigg in the semi-final. A tight match but Moores’ vast experience should give him the edge.

The Junior Cup will see the in form Alfie Kane take on surprise finalist John Rosborough but with this match played off scratch Kane will probably be too strong and is strongly tipped to emerge victorious.

In the Foyle Cup Ulster Fourball supremo Alan Montgomery takes on one of his selections in this year’s competition Eamon Maxwell and Maxwell should be far too strong for his boss. Montgomery probably played his final when taking the prized scalp of Jack McFarland in the semi-final.

The Jock Balmer Fourball title could go anyway really with two very strong pairings in action.

Colin Jeffrey and Iain Anthony take on the father and son combination of Aaron and Raymond Taylor with the result too close to call.

The first match tees off at 4.30pm and the first tee is closed until 6pm to accommodate the play-off’s.
