Fourball team progress after Miele Cup thriller

Last Saturday, Edenmore crept past Dundalk in the first round of the Miele competition.

The format is fourball betterball and four members play at home with the other four travelling away to Dundalk.

The pairing of Heather Patterson and Stephanie Watson took an early lead and built on it to record a four and three win.

The second pairing of Sandra Boomer and Sally Cushnahan had a tight match and stood on the 18th all square. Little did they realize, but the two away matches in Dundalk, with the pairings of Debbie McMaster and Louise Gaw and Karen Legrand and Cherry Logan had just been beaten on the 21st and 18th holes respectively, both matches recorded one hole defeats.

Everything hinged on the last match at Edenmore and when the home ladies won the hole, the match was secure by a narrow margin of three holes.

The Edenmore Miele team now progress to play Nuremore with in the next few weeks.

The first round of the Cowdy Cup has concluded with a win for Edenmore over Spa.

The same team of Debbie McMaster, Cherry Logan, Colleen Hanna, Louise Gaw, Karen Legrand and Stephaine Watson took to the tee for the second leg.

The first three matches went Edenmore’s way and that was enough to secure the win.

Meanwhile, the Ladies Medal Competition was won by Caroline Watson.
