Gallagher continues purple patch

Michael Gallagher certainly obliged with an excellent winning score of 43 points and in doing so along with his winners prize he saw his handicap reduced by five shots, due to his purple playing patch he incurred an exceptional scoring reduction on his handicap and over his last four competitions he has seen his handicap reduced by seven shots.

The Category 0-5 winner Martin Kivelehan recorded eight birdies on his card while going around the Ballyarnet course in 69 shots for his 42 points total, a score good enough to win on another day.

Gary Cassidy (7) with 39 points won the Category 6-12 and Andrew McKeever (16) with 40 points won the category 13-17 and Peter Kemish (18) with 41 points claimed the category 18+ section. The back nine was claimed by Nat Roche (26) after he finished with 23 points.

With 14 rounds played and the best five nett Scores counting in the P & L Electrics Golfer of the Year at Foyle Scott Kennedy leads the way by four points with an accumulated total of 184 points.

Second is Eamon O’Hagan who is currently on 180 points and Michael Duffy with 179 points is in third spot. John A Lafferty with 176 points is fourth and and Cormac McGeady who has 174 points is fifth.

This Friday the Desmond Motors Foyle Open takes centre stage, while the Alan Harkens Memorial Trophy in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care will be played for on Saturday and the club stableford competition is staged for Sunday.
