Garrett and Lundy pair up for Centenary Win at Portstewart Golf Club
Portstewart Golf Club’s representative pair for the GUI Ulster Branch Centenary Competition will be Chris Lundy and Paul Garrett.
They scored 40 points on rain drenched Saturday to finish one point up on several 39 pointers. The winners had a quiet start with a couple of one point holes and went to three over par after six holes. Paul then hit a wee run of form to add three consecutive birdies to the card and boost the halfway total to 21 points.
On the inward nine Paul struck his fourth birdie with a four at the long thirteenth. The seventeenth, one of the most difficult holes of the Strand course, took a shot from them but eighteen gave up a par.
