GOLF: Anthony produces the goods at Prehen

Five handicapper Iain Anthony with a tremendous score of 42 points was the clear winner at City of Derry, on Saturday.

Four behind was long hitting James Desmond (15) with Barry McCallion (18) on 37 points in third spot.

George Curry (13) continued his great form to take top spot in the highly competitive Sunday Society followed by Vice Captain, Clive Brolly (15), third on the day was Ulster Cup player Paul Glackin (11) after he scored 40 points.

Club captain, John Rosborough (14) was fourth after he finished with 39 points, Damien King (15) and Martin Doherty (17) were fifth and sixth.

A three way tie breaker decided the places for last week’s Thursday Society competition.

In first place was 17 handicapper Anthony Faulkner with Sean McKane (18) and Brian Stanford (21) second and third respectively after all on 41 points.

Redcastle Golf Clubs Club Christmas Hamper 18 hole Stableford competition which took place recently proved to be a keenly fought competition and a high scoring one.

Dan Joe McLaughlin took first place after a break of tie finish after he scored an excellent 45 points.

Narrowly missing out on first place was Jim Burns who also scored 45 points.

Paul Murray was placed third with 44 points with Din Tracey taking fourth with 42 points.

Willie Havlin claimed the gross prize with 32 gross points on a break of tie. Mark Wilson claimed the front nine with 22 points and Barry Gibson claimed the back nine prize with 23 points.
