Faughan Valley hosted Foyle in the second leg with Foyle holding a 6.5 to 3.5 match lead from their home leg which was a very competitive affair as five of the matches finished on the 18th green. Some excellent match play golf took place and Foyle held a 10 to 9 match advantage with one game left out on the course which meant Faughan Valley needed to win the game to retain the Cup with Foyle needing a half match for victory. Four holes to play the game was tied and Stevie Nicholl made a wonderful chip for birdie on 17th to put Faughan Valley one up with one to play. Foyle’s Damien Martin played his second shot to eight feet on the 18th with Willie O’Brien failed to make his five, leaving Martin with a short par putt to give Foyle the victory.
