Golf: McGoldrick and Bradley win greensomes at Moyola

With 33pts, the Greensomes competition held at Moyola Park Golf Club, has been won by the pairing of Hugh McGoldrick and Patsy Bradley.

Runners-up were Damian McCusker and Kevin Carmichael, 31pts. A Waltz event brought success for the quartet of Diarmaid McFlynn, Tony McFlynn, Declan Quinn and Niall McGoldrick with 78pts. Second here was team made up of Tommy Fullerton, Gary McCulloch, Dominic Burke and Darren Hutchinson.

They returned 77pts on a better back nine while there were 11 optional twos winners, each getting 6 golf balls. A Two Man Scramble competition (one quarter handicap) brought success for partnership of Damian McLarnon and David Simpson. They scored 46.75 , Damian Larkin and Mark McElroy second on 50.25. Here, 19 players get 2 golf balls for twos entry. The ladies annual Spring League will run up to, and include, Tuesday, 24th March. Entry fee is £10 when you play your first competition card. You may play a maximum of six cards, of which best five will count, minimum of four cards to be submitted in order to qualify for a team prize.

Monday continues the Seniors (over 50s) Open Stablefords, while Saturday and Sunday bring Sweep Stablefords also the start of the Spring Eclectic competition. This event runs until 9th April, you may play a maximum of six cards only on any day with the best score at each hole to count. Cards must be purchased from the pro shop at £1 each and can be played in conjunction with the Sweep. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, categories, also senior and will be presented at the Captains Drive In.

Members should note that all 18 holes are now open. And, the all important 38th annual general meeting is scheduled for Monday, 30th March, at 7. 30pm. There are five positions to be filled, four for three years and one for two years. Completed proposal forms must be returned to the Secretary / Manager on or before 4pm, Friday, 27th February. And, anyone wishing to sponsor a competition this season, please contact the office for further details.
