A model of consistency Mark had 20 points on each nine and lost a shot off his newly allocated handicap in the process.

James McGeady (27) was best of three players that scored 39 points to take second place on the count back and the ever improving Matthew Orr (10) edged closer to a coveted single figure handicap with his 39 points. Marlene Montgomery (28) topped the ladies leaderboard with 33 points.

City of Derry will be attempting to qualify for the match play stages of the Irish Junior Cup at Portsalon next Sunday, and they are hoping to improve on last year’s efforts that saw them reaching the Ulster semi-final stage.

Representing Prehen will be Brian Long, Graham Hepburn, Cormac McKeone, Robert Simpson, Graham Robb. Fred Young will be first reserve.

Brian Long (5) was the proud winner of the Lee Hogg Bowl at Prehen on Saturday with a superbly compiled 70 nett playing from the back sticks, a real test of golf with only 40 per cent of the players completing their round without a blank.

Brian had the equal best gross with Kevin Quigg (3) both players scoring 75 shots with Kevin taking that honour with a terrific 33 strokes on the back nine.
