Gordon’s ace almostthe first of 2015

A Lurgan golfer was hoping he had sunk the first hole -in-one of 2015.

Gordon Irwin, a former member of Lurgan Golf Club, holed an ace at the Annesley Links number two course at Royal County Down on Tuesday, January 6 - but he was beaten to the glory by four days.

East Mountain Country Club in Westfield, America was the site of the first hole-in-one in 2015 in Western Massachusetts. Sal Amedeo of Westfield aced the 17th hole on January. 2.

For the record Gordon played a sweet 7 iron at the 12th and the ball landed in the cup.

The odds for scoring a hole in one are 12,500 to 1 - Gordon is becoming a bit of an expert at it as this was his fourth.
