Great Captain's Day at Redcastle

REDCASTLE'S Una McGeough held her Ladies Captains Day prize on Saturday in near perfect conditions for golfing.

There was a great turn out for her day, Lady members, visitors, guests and family all played in fine weather and enjoyed a great nights craic at her prize giving dinner.

Claiming first place was Una Smyth (27) after she scored nett 67, second was Hazel Browne (20) after she finished with nett 70, and on nett 70 was Audrey McGurk (29) who claimed third spot.

The gross winner was Jennie Flanagan (15) after she scored nett 92, the front nine was claimed by Lyn McOwen (21) after she scored nett 33.5 and Mary McAuther (18) with 34 nett won the back nine.

In the Past Captain section Gena Porter (23) nett 71 came out on top and Gill Eakin (32) nett 72 won the Committee prize. (Standard Scratch 71).

Longest Drive was also Gena Porter and Nearest Pin was Oonagh McDermott. In the men's section Damon Tracey (13) with 23 points was first, Stan Morton (23) with 22 points finished second and the men's visitor prize was claimed by Martin Reel after he scored 18 points, Martin Agnew with 19 points was the men's day members prize.

Visiting Lady Captain prize went to City of Derry's Ann McGoldrick after she finished with 21 points. Heather Mitchell with 17 points won the lady visitor's prize and Dot Wilson won the lady visitor category, in the Juvenile Under 15 section was won by Ailsa McLarnon, while the under 12 section was claimed by Molly McLarnon and Kathleen McLarnon was second. In the Van de velde competition went to Terry Green (Redcastle).

While Monday's Nelly Garrett Cup pairs competition was won by Hazel Browne and Jennie Flanagan after they finished with 41 points, second spot went to Nuala McQuaid and Una Morrison after a break of tie finish after they scored 38 points and Lyn McOwen and Gill Eakin were third.

Next Monday's Competition is the PGA Tankard and draw times are 10am, 5pm and 5.45pm.
