Great turn out of juveniles at Open

Last Wednesday saw another great turn out of Juveniles for the Teckentrup sponsored Open competition at Banbridge golf club.

The club had a number of players come from Edenmore golf club and it was great to see them play so well at Banbridge.

From the Yellow tees Joel Reid play a very steady round of golf and won the best gross prize with a score of 87. In third place with another good score was Mathew Elliot with 39 pts.

Second place, losing out on countback, was Rory McNiff with a great score of 43 points. Mathew Reain also scored 43 points and his good play won him first place on the day. These four boys and a few others are playing well and I’m sure they will be moving to the “big tour” in the next couple of weeks. You are capable of playing from the white blocks boys – well done.

The boys off the white blocks played a stroke competition this week and the best gross of 74 was by Josh Crory who beat Callum Barnes by virtue of a better second nine. Fourth place was secured by Patrick McNiff with a nett 67. In third place was Conor McCullough with a nett 67 and proving beyond any doubt that he is a better player than his father ever was.

In second place and continuing his recent good form was Callum Barnes with a fine nett 65.The winner by two shots with a nett 63 was Gary McConville.

After a shaky start Gary played the last 13 holes in one over par for a comfortable win. Well done Gary.

Mathew Young played his first competition from the white block and beat his older brother and Juvenile Captain, Michael, by three shots.
