Greatprizes on offer at Roe Park GC

St Patricks Day saw Roe Park Golf Club hold its first Open competition of the season and a huge turnout ensured there would be fierce competition for the great prizes provided by The City Hotel.

Fresh from his victory in last Thursday’s Club Stableford, Conor O’Kane once again dominated the field with a very impressive 42 points to take first place.

Trevor Thompson earned second place with 39 points and a very close third was James McGuinness also with 39 points.

Gregory Thompson playing as a visitor claimed the gross prize with Michael Mullin taking the front nine prize and Alan Loughery the back nine prize. Nearest the Pins were won by Glenn Nicholl and John McKay with fine shots at the ninth and twelfth hole respectively.

The Captains Drive-In 4 man Scramble held on the previous Saturday and sponsored by Cuts Hair Salon saw another great turnout. Jonathon Forsythe, Ciaran Kealey, Sean McCaul and Gareth Wilson were all smiles as they claimed the victory. Second place was taken by Ricky Cochrane, Andy Young, Jim Reid and John Holmes only just beaten on countback.

Another busy week at Roe Park Golf Shop had Resident PGA Professional Michael McCrudden install yet another custom fitting option with the Taylormade Tuned Performance Stand being the latest feature.

Saturday’s 13 hole Club Stableford was decided on countback with the top three places all scoring 30 points.

Taking the victory was Eamon Barkley with Celestine Mullin in second place followed by son Michael Mullin in third.

Sunday’s Club Stableford again held over 13 holes was won by Bryan McCartney with 30 points. Second also with 30 points but beaten on countback was Kevin Boyd.

This Saturday sees a Club Stableford sponsored by Michael Fuels and The Spring League will see more players compete in club competitions for the great prizes on offer provided by sponsors Donnelly and Taggart.
