Greenkeeper Sam uses his knowledge to win the day

THE man who knows every blade of grass on the Edenmore course is Sam Quigley and as one of the members of the green keeping staff he used his knowledge to shoot a brilliant score of 40pts to win the overall prize last Saturday.

Sam got off to good start paring two of the first four holes and making some early progress in our regular fourball match. He plays off a handicap of 15 and managed to par four holes on the front nine keeping the rest to bogeys. He started the back with another par.

Sam is very competitive and went on to par the difficult twelfth and then the fourteenth to keep the points rolling in and of course our wee fourball match alive. The highlight of Sam’s round and the final straw in the match was his birdie two on the seventeenth.
