Gregg finishes with a flourish to take top spot in the September Stableford

He had 19 points on the front nine which included a ding on the short sixth.

A par on the 10th gave him three points. After a run of two points per hole, he finished with a birdie two at 18 for four points which gave him 21 on the back nine and a total of 40.

His great second nine gave him top place over Andy Gibb (17). Andy finished with two pars for a back nine of 20 points.

Graham Glover (11) and Chris Furfey (21) finished on 39. Chris had an opening nine holes of 21 points but Graham finished with 19 points on the back nine to claim third place.

Ryan Symington carded the best gross score with 35 points. He went out in 34 but a six at 11 left him on level par. After a birdie four at 14, he dropped strokes at the final two holes for a round of 73.

Mary Peters Trust

Lisburn hosted the final with competitors from all over Ulster. Dame Mary presented the prizes with David Pilkington (Cloverhill) the outright winner. He won the Barbour Cup at Lisburn in August.

Noel Robinson was the winner of the Past Captain’s prize for the Ellis Williams salver. The competition was organised by Fergal McDonald and David McAlpine.

Seniors

Jim Cunningham had his fifth hole-in-one at Newcastle on Monday.

He was playing with Bob Hope for the Lisburn in the final Mid Ulster Seniors competition. Lisburn’s top scorers were Ivor McCandless and John Boyd.

WHITEWASH TROPHY

Lisburn have retained the Whitewash Trophy after beating the NIAGS team 4–1.

John Boyd and Stephen Shaw were two down after 13 but won the next four holes to secure victory on the 17th green. Club President Andrew Crawford & Ivor Walker and Ken Haslem & Noel Robinson had easy wins.

Sam Moore & Neil Patton and Peter Cairns & David Megrath finished their matches on the final green. The first pair won but the latter lost.
