Hamilton makes his Mark with narrow win at Galgorm Castle

Play continued with the Eclectic and Sweep Competitions at Galgorm Castle Golf Club with five players battling for the Division One prize.

Paul Houston (3), Norman Nicholl (5), Sean McCormick (3) and Mark Dunlop (2) were one point behind the leader Mark Hamilton (3) through four.

Hamilton went into the lead at the second and remained there to the finish. Hamilton was still leading Houston, Nicholl and McCormick by a single point approaching two out with Dunlop falling back another point.

Hamilton managed to hold off the challenge of the chasing group and finished with two pars to win by one point from Houston (two pars), and Nicholl (two pars) who finished together and tied for second place. McCormick (bogey, par) and Dunlop )two pars) were another point behind. The Gross prize was won by Dunlop.

Paul Black (6) opened strongly with three pars and a birdie to take a commanding three point lead over Gary Moon (7) in Division 2. Fergus McKelvey (6) and Emil Wylie (6) were a further one and two points respectively behind. Moon after a run of three pars joined Black up the Grove.

Moon edged ahead over the closing two holes with a bogey, par finish to win by one point from Black (double bogey, par). McKelvey (bogey, birdie) and Wylie (bogey, par) finished together a further point behind.

Division 3 saw Trevor Galloway (9) and Ian Manson (9) take a one point lead over Donald Nesbitt (9) through the Maple. The positions remained the same going to the Lowlands with Galloway and Manson still a point ahead of Nesbitt. Galloway finished with two bogeys and was joined by D.Nesbitt with a par, bogey finish. Nesbitt came to the fore where it mattered and with a better last six took first place with Galloway second.

Colin Black (11) started with three pars and a bogey in the first four holes to open a three point advantage over Andrew McFarlane (13) and Ivan Graham (10) in Division 4. Harkness McCaughan (10) was another three points behind. Black after hitting bogey trouble was joined by McFarlane with two to play. Graham was a further two points away followed by McCaughan another point behind.

Black with a par and a birdie finish won by one point from McFarlane (double bogey, bogey). I.Graham (two bogeys) and McCaughan (bogey, par) finished together another point behind.
