Henry comes out on top at Foyle

THE Annual Alan Harkens Memorial Trophy In Aid of Marie Curie Cancer care played at Foyle on Saturday saw an excellent entry turnout and the competitors enjoyed excellent conditions.

Michael Henry made full use of the favorable conditions to post a fine winning score of 42 points and claim the very coveted prize.

The Category 0-11 went to Paul Anderson (7) with 41 points, category 12-17 went to Cormac Cassidy (14) after a break of tie finish when he scored 40 points and the category 18+ was claimed also after a BOT finish by Paul Cassidy (19) who finished with 39 points, the back nine was won by John Coyle (11) who scored 25 points.

Last Friday’s Open Stableford competition saw Dermott Harkin (22) continue his hot streak after he scored 44 points again to come home in first place, Danny McCay (19) was a point behind in second spot and on 42 points in third place was Shane Bonnar (3).

The Lombard Trophy qualifier was won by Dermott Harkin (17) who scored 44 points and Dermott will represent the Club with Professional Derek Morrison at the Island Golf Club in the area final in July.

The Over 50’s competition went to Martin McEleney (18) after he finished on 39 points James Sheehan (14) was second after a BOT finish when he scored 36 points. The CSS was 38 points.

Foyle Golf Club will be holding a Prize Presentation tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8pm in the Club House for the following Competitions: Pitchers Restaurant Spring League, Club Classic, Alan Harkens Memorial Trophy and The Summer Trophy with all Prize winners below asked to attend or send a deputy to collect their prize: Spring League: Tommy Bradley, Lawerance Powell, Darren Bradley, Stephen Powell, Kieran Bradley, Martin Loughrey, Joe Bradley, Stephen Moore, Rob Ewing, Declan Ryan, David Wilson, Brendan Gallagher, Ciaran Gillen, Ryan Gillen, Scott Kennedy, John Morrison.

While today (Wednesday) the summer trophy stableford competition takes centre stage and on Saturday and Sunday the Golf Store Europe Two Day Open stableford competition is down for decision and the overall winner will get a set of custom fit irons.
