Hunter wins at Faughan Valley

THE Lady Captain’s Charity Day Open, in aid of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, competition, which took place at Faughan Valley on Saturday, was claimed by Kevin Hunter (11) who scored 41 points.

Second spot went to Nigel Craig (15) who scored 40 points and Club Captain Terry Dornan (14) with 39 points was third.

Tony P Griffiths with 81 points claimed the gross prize, Trevor Lewer (20) with 18 points claimed the front nine and Steven Mullan (16) with 17 points secured the back nine and Alan Gault hit the longest drive at the 11th hole.

The ladies section was calmed by City of Derry’s Marie Clifford (24) who scored 37 points and she also won the nearest the pin prize at the 10th hole.

Celine McIvor (35) with 37 points was second and Gill Eakin (28) with 34 points was third.

Strabane’s Margaret Fisher (31) with 19 points won the front nine, Heather Allen (23) with 23 points won the back nine and Jennifer Lapsley hit the longest drive at the 18th hole.

The Club Championship Knock-out Matchplay was won by David Forbes; the City of Derry Building Society club doubles was won by Glenn Hinds and Glenn Curran and Conrad Carlin won the City of Derry Building Society Club Singles Match-play.

The Monthly Medal Strokeplay competition takes place on Saturday, while a Fourball Betterball competition takes centre stage on Sunday, while a weekend open stableford competition is scheduled for Saturday, September 28.

Club Captain, Mr Terry Dornan and Council would like to thank the sponsors of this year’s competitions and remind all winners that there will be a presentation night for all 2013 Club Trophies, at the Happy Landing.
