‘Impeccable’ skill sees Bob win at Rockmount GC

ON Saturday one player played the 12 hole competition at Rockmount Golf Club with impeccable precision and skill. With the early morning fog causing some limited visibility Bob Jellie (11) needed no help to tame the course; if cards had statistics recorded on them Bob’s card would read nine fairways out of nine and twelve greens out of twelve. The only blemish on his card was a three putt at the second that resulted in a bogey six, but an eagle at the fifth and three birdies left him with a three under gross score of 45 shots or a massive 34 points for the twelve holes.

Bob’s nearest challenger was his playing partner Peter Loughins (17), Peter opened with a double bogey six at the first hole but soon recovered and after twelve holes had scored 31 points, a score that would win most twelve hole competitions. In third place was Stephen Gilmore (18) with 30 points and John Ogle (17) also with 30 points was fourth. Mark Kyle (11) scored 29 points for fifth place. The best gross prize went to Jonny Patterson with a two under total of 46 shots. Next week sees the commencement of the Andrew Annett Winter League.
