Italian job for Cairndhu Golf Club’s Marc McKinstry

Cairndhu Golf Club’s Marc McKinstry has been selected to represent Ireland an under-16 tournament in Italy from August 30 to September 4.

He will be part of a three-strong team competing in the Italian Under-16 Open, with boys from all over Europe taking part.

The two other players representing Ireland are Alan Fahy from Bray Golf Club in Wicklow, and Sean Doyle from Athlone Golf Club in Longford.

Meanwhile, Cairndhu’s Ladies’ Intermediate Cup team excelled at Hilton Golf Club this week when they played Enniskillen in the semi-final of the competition.

In adverse weather conditions (when most courses were closed), they produced some fantastic golf to win their last-four clash 5-0.

The team of Gail McCluggage, Lyn Morrow, Sandra Conlon, Sinead Robinson and Lesley Gausden will represent the club in its first-ever inter-club final when Edenmore provide the opposition at Rockmount Golf Club on August 31.
