With Neil Clydesdale making an exit, the only remaining seeded player is Kevin McKay.

The latest results are as follows:

Dean Nicoletti beat Garreth Moody 2 and 1.

Seamus McGrath beat Victor McNeill at the 19th.

Barry Casey beat Neil Clydesdale 4 and 3.

Kevin McKay beat Philip Strong.

Seamus McGrath and Dean Nicoletti could achieve an incredible double. They are both in the semi-final of the Matchplay and they are both in with a chance of winning the President’s Prize. Has that double ever been done? I doubt it.

Going into round 7 of the Mid-Ulster Senior Alliance last Monday at Omagh, Banbridge were in 5th place, only 6 points behind the leaders. This is their best performance for many years. A strong finish over the four remaining rounds could see Dougie Stevenson’s team emerge as champions.

Felix Duffy was the star player at Omagh, scoring a massive 41 points. This was one of the best scores of the day.

Philip Strong played a very steady round, finishing with 36 points.

Bertie Shaw counted with 34 points, as did Ian Boyce with 32 points.

That gave Banbridge a team total of 143 points, which should keep them close to the top of the league table. The other members of the Banbridge team were Dougie Stevenson, John Parkes, Sam Wilkinson and John Poots.

Round 8 will be played at Spa Golf Club this week.
