Ivor honoured after year as GUI President

A reception was held in Cherry Room of the Island Centre to mark Ivor McCandless’ year as President of the Golfing Union of Ireland.

The Chairman of the Leisure Services department, Alderman Paul Porter welcomed the guests.

These included Ivor’s wife Audrey, their son Christopher and his family.

The GUI was represented by Pat Finn (the General Secretary), Peter Sinclair (Chairman of the Ulster Branch), Eamonn O’Connor (Hon. Secretary of the Ulster Branch) and the Hon. Match Secretary Norman Bennett.

Lisburn Golf Club was represented by the Captain Peter Cairns, Vice-Captain John Boyd, Hon Secretary Noel Robinson and some of Ivor’s golfing friends.

A presentation was made to Ivor by Alderman Porter and Deputy Mayor Thomas Beckett. The evening concluded with a hot buffet supper.
