John closes in on Open record as Bill burns up the course with a 67

John Poots has won the Sunday Sweep five times this year to equal John Doran’s record, who won it five times in 2010.

John now has 23 more opportunities remaining this year to set an all-time record.

Neil Clydesdale played the 14 holes course in one under par gross to win the Monday Sweep. Kenny Arlow and John Poots shared the twos pot.

Four 10 handicappers took the top four places on Wednesday. Before you say we have the nucleus of a top class Ulster Cup team, let me remind you that all four are juveniles. They will only be eligible for the Ulster cup in around 15 years time.

William Malcolmson shot a glorious gross 67 to win the latest Open Stableford. This was the 15th Thursday Open this year and, as yet, no player has won it twice.
