John is medal winner at RPGC

John Allen scored a super net 64 to take the Monthly Medal over the Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush on Saturday.

The eighteen handicapper balanced out his nasty double bogey six scored at the fourth with a birdie four at the second and a three at five. Dropping only few shots along with those scores he was out in 40 which netted down to 31. His back nine contained no birdies but a triple bogey slipped in out of nowhere at sixteen. This proved not too expensive as again he dropped very few shots apart from those ending the nine on 42, net 33 and a net total of 64.

Dr Rory McCartney took Silver position with his net 67 off seven. Out in 38 shots Dr Rory nabbed a birdie four at ten, parred the rest until eighteen took another shot from him leaving the back nine tally at 36. A gross score of 74, net 67. Bronze medallist was Andrew Baird with his round of 87 netting down to 69. Steady scoring from Andrew, particularly on the back nine which he covered in 41 shots, was what paid off for him.
