He finished the back nine with another birdie at the eighteenth for a one under par total of 34 for the home ward nine and a five under par score of 67 for his round.

Michael White (11) was second with a nett 67 and Russell McDonald (11) third with a nett 69.

The gross prize went to Warren Burnside (04) with a three over par round of 75. Warren’s score of 75 was one better than his winning score last week.

Warren started with three bogeys in the first four holes and a fourth at the eighth which put in four over par; but four threes (two of which were birdies) in a row helped his cause before another bogey on the fourteenth left him on three over par.

Holt Shield

Having safely negotiated the Holt Shield mini league Rockmount’s Holt Shield team were drawn against Clandeboye Golf Club in the last sixteen match-play stage.

On Tuesday evening team captain Barry Douds took his team to Clandeboye for the first leg; on a difficult evening for golf with strong winds his team performed admirably.

Andy Gregge was out first and succumbed to a narrow defeat on the sixteenth 3 & 2.

Mark Wynne was out second in a very tight match. The point in this match could have been shared had Mark been able to hole his difficult birdie putt on the eighteenth green losing by 1 Hole.

Jimmy Robinson out third also went down the eighteenth and did manage to put a half point on the board for Rockmount when he halved his match.

The tail then began to wag; Vice Captain Eddie Donaldson won his match 3 & 2 and James his match 2 & 1.

The overall score was two and half points each which is a satisfactory score away from home. However all will be to play for at Rockmount next week.
