Joy and Sharon take top spot

The ladies played in the Daisy Ferguson Greensomes last Tuesday and the competition was very close with three pairs tied at the top, having to be separated on count-back.

Joy Gowdy and Sharon Allen emerged as the winners with 34 points, narrowly pipping Mildred Hodgett and Dianna Whan to the winners’ title on count-back.

They in turn beat the in-form Whan sisters Melissa and Megan into third place on count-back also in what is a difficult discipline of golf with rhythm hard to find as each player is only hitting every other shot.

Nonetheless, plenty of ladies found their way into the hole in two shots to take a share of the pot. Most of those were on the 15th hole as

Lynn Malcolmson, Liz Ramsey, Marlene Nelson, Fiona Crossey, Denise Mc Brien all carded a two on the 15th. The only other hole to come up with the goods was the recently revamped 12th as Helen Cocks and Sheelagh English mastered it to find a two.
