Junior coaching resumes at Roe Park

LAST Thursday's club stableford at Roe Park saw all three top finishers cut a stroke from their handicap as good scoring was the order of the day.

Jonathan Allen took first place with an impressive 43 points seeing him reduced to 11, whilst Harry Jervis will now be playing off 12 after his 42 points haul. Stevie Hamill made a rare venture into the forties to take third place honours and get back to his lofty handicap of 16.

The Monthly Medal was played off the blue tees on Saturday morning and while the skies brightened, the game of Alan Rankin (13) was already shining brightly as he returned a nett 63 to take two brush strokes off his handicap and bring him back to 11.

Willy Scott (11) made a long overdue return to form with a nett 67 whilst Justin McNerlin (15) was one worse off with a 68. Darren Mullan (3) continued a high standard of play in the serious golfers' category with a nett 69 to claim the gross prize.

Tomorrow (Thursday) night sees a Pinehurst competition being run on the Thursday, with stableford competitions on the Saturday and Sunday.

Both members and those from other clubs are reminded that the Scratch Cup competition takes place on Sunday, August 29 and places can be secured through reception.

Junior coaching will soon be ready to resume after the summer break, catering for ages from 5-18, this coaching is run by PGA Professional Shaun Devenney on Saturday mornings. These interested should contact reception on 77760105 to secure a place.
