Junior Sweepfor students

THERE was a Junior Pro-Shop Sweep over the mid-term break for students.

The sunshine during the half term break produced a good turnout for the two day shop sweep.

Adam McCleary, who is now reaping the benefits of his winter practice, won the low section with 34pts. Runner up was Conal Patterson with a great level par round for 32pts, another case of showing how practice pays off.

A poor final three holes, with only three points, slipped Maeve Cummins into 3rd position and the gross award went to Niamh Ward who has just returned from some warm weather training in Spain with the elite training squad. The high section was won by young Jon Woods with 40pts. He played extremely well over both days and secured the win with his Tuesday score. Two of the Best brothers took 2nd and 3rd place, Josh with 38pts and Zach with 36pts.

Aaron Callaghan didn’t quite meet his high expectations but still managed 4th place with 34pts.

The scoring by a lot of the juniors was good. No doubt the Junior Convenor will be revising some handicaps.
