Kelly secures Irons title

THE hugely popular Irons Competition came to a finish in glorious sunshine at Faughan Valley, on Sunday and Bernard Kelly (4) came out on top after he scored an impressive 39 points to secure first place.

Second was Paul A Duffy (7) who scored 38 points and Terry Doran (14) with 35 points was third and in the Junior Irons final James Lindsay (4) with 35 points was first, while Dan Hinds (5) with 33 points claimed second spot.

Saturday's competition was won after a break of tie finish by Stephen McDermott (20) after he scored 40 points, second also after a BOT finish was David Logue (21), while also on 40 points in third spot was Shane McGahon (23).

Last Wednesday's Mid-week Open was secured by Martin McGlynn (16) after he scored 41 points, second was Cecil King (12) after he scored 39 points and Captain Trevor Lewers (23) was third after finishing with 37 points.

Meanwhile the Ladies competition last Wednesday was won by Catherine O'Neill (21) after she scored 38 points, second after a break of tie finish was Helen Milligan (35) after she finished with 34 points and Peal Cowell (31) who also scored 34 points claimed third spot.
