Killymoon Golf update

SATURDAY 9th June was the date of the annual trip for golfers from Killymoon to play the second leg on the Tyrone Cup in Dungannon. This year a good field took advantage of the short break in the wet weather to compete for the inter club competition.

The 2nd leg was won on the day by Dungannon’s Gordon Tate with a better back nine score of 66, just ahead of Killymoon’s Joe Muldoon.

Third place on the day was taken by Dungannon’s Patrick Fearon with the host club also taking the best gross with Timothy Jordan’s score of 69. Killymoon did slightly better in the division prizes with wins by the reliable Nigel Stewart and Kevin Thom.

All winners in this years’ competition should note that the presentation will be held this year in Dungannon Golf Club, date yet to be confirmed.

Despite the threat of poor weather a good field assembled on Saturday 16th June for the Gents Stableford Competition. The completion was quite a close affair in the main field but a clear winner on the day with an impressive score of 43 points was Terry Duffy who, in addition to his prize, will now have the pleasure of a two stroke reduction in handicap. The best gross on the day was won by Kieran Rodgers, whilst the best net went to Michael Coney with a score of 41 points. The three divisional winners on the day were Mark Wilson, Keith Wilson and Ray Quinn. Killymoon Golf Club would like to thank our sponsor for the event Kelso Cars for their support.

The Doctor’s Trophy was played for on Sunday 17th June. In the end the competition was narrowly won by Philip Lamount with an excellent score of 41 points. Niall Johnston was able to take the best gross, while second and third positions on the day were won by Mark Rooney and Adrian Gallagher respectively.

Meanwhile the summer Bathe Eclectic competition is in full swing.

The sixth week of the competition was won by Niall Martin with a score of 43 points, Nico McGuckin claimed second place with S Kolbohm taking the final position on the winner’s podium. The summer series of Gents and Ladies Opens continue to attract a good field each Wednesday.

This week the main prize was won by Michael Meenan with a score of 42 points with the best visitor finish was Norman Weir who shot a score of 37 points whilst playing of a handicap of eight.

Finally building on our successful family open day our Club Assistant Professional has arranged a series of Junior Coaching camps for members and non members alike.
