Kirk cards 45 points to win club competition

Kirk Thornhill (13) won this week’s competition at Lambeg GC with a brilliant score of 45 points.

Kirk didn’t have more than a five on his card and had six pars in his front nine. Another six pars and a superb birdie at the 16th on the back nine gave him an easy win with a two-shot cushion on his nearest rival.

That turned out to be Graham Steele (20) who had a nice run of four pars in the middle of his front nine.

Jim McGrath (18) finished third on 42 points after a very steady round.

Best Gross was won by Ivor Harron.

The Wednesday Hat was won by Graham Steele with 44 points.

The Chipped Potato Matchplay competition has now reached the semi-final s after these last eight results.

Robert Mc Cullough beat Alan Mason two up

Chris Boyd beat Sam Thompson one up

Ian Jefferson beat Tommy Coulter two and one.

Alan Crockard beat Tony Hamilton five and three.
