Kivelehan leads the way at Foyle

THE 2010 P & L Electrics Golfer of the Year at Foyle is beginning to shape up well with the competition at this point being dominated by the single handicap golfers.

Martin Kivelehan is currently holding a six point lead on a score of 383 points after 15 from the 21 Confined Competitions with 7 best scores to Count and 3 from the 10 Club Opens with the 3 best scores to count have been played.

Second is Stephen Martin who has 377 points, third is Paul McGuigan on 376 points, fourth is Paul Anderson who has 370 points, fifth is Cormac McGeady who has 369 points, sixth is Jarlath Clarke who has 366 points and in join seventh spot is Damien McKenna and Paul McLaughlin who have 365 points.

In the Club Sweep Niall McGuinness (8) 41 points claimed first place, while Peter Roddy (17) 40 points claimed second spot.

The confined Golf classic played at Foyle last week saw 21 teams take to the Ballyarnett fairways and the scoring was excellent when the two hidden holes were revealed holes 9 and 13 where all four scores were to count Paul McIntyre (17), Jarlath Clarke (11), Paul McEleney (16) and Liam McCafferty had accumulated 105 points for victory by two points.

Second after a break of tie finish were Kieran Bradley (13), Michael Gallagher (8), Brendan Barr (7) and Michael Loughrey (11) after they finished with 103 points and in third spot also on 103 points was Jackie Thomas (11), Kevin Crumley (14), Kevin Thomas (4) and Carl King (14).

The Crumley construction monthly medal was played in perfect sunny conditions on Sunday and the Category 0-11 went to Cormac McGeady (6) nett 63, the category 12-16 was claimed after a BOT finish by Damien McColgan (13) after he scored nett 69 and the Category 17+ was won after another BOT finish by James McCallion (21) after he scored nett 68.

On Friday the Foyle Friday Open Stableford competition is down for decision and on Saturday the Open Stableford competition sponsored by Foyle Men's Golf Club.
