Ladies raise funds for stroke team

Lady Captain at Lisburn Golf Club, Mrs Gil Colvin, recently welcomed the lady members to the first monthly prize giving of 2014.

The ladies enjoyed a beautiful day of Spring weather for their golf followed by supper.

The Club Professional, Stephen Hamill brought his golfing skills indoors and shared some top golfing tips with the ladies and answered questions from the floor.

The Captain then welcomed Sharon Murphy from the Lisburn Community Stroke Team who was delighted to receive a cheque in the amount of £1030 raised by the members at a table quiz. The Community Stroke Team was chosen as the recipient charity due to the support they have given to the husband of a Lady Member. The donation from Lisburn GC will support pieces of equipment such as adaptive cutlery and iPads.

The winners who received their prizes were as follows:

Winter Ringer, A Section won by Judi Henry with Hazel Brown in second place. B Section won by Hazel McNally with Kathleen MacDonald in second. C Section won by the Lady Captain Gil Colvin with June Wightman in second.

April 8 prizes by Amy Boyd and June Wightman saw Janice Wallace, Lorraine McAleese and Colleen Logan pick up the prize in Sections A,B and C respectively. Elizabeth Howard won the 9 hole competition. Lorraine McAleese goes forward to represent Lisburn at the Peggy Nelson finals at Dunmurry on July 21.

April 15 McClelland Cup with prizes sponsored by Liz McQuoid and Emma Porter. Section A won by Hazel McNally with a 71 and Janice Wallace in second place with a 72. In Section B the honours went to Daphne Jones with a nett 70 and Margaret Walker in second place with a 75. The nine hole competition was won by Beth Kee.

Easter Tuesday competition Section A was won by Linda Symington with 36 points and Liz Hill in second on 34 points. Section B was won by Gil Colvin on 34 points and Patricia Clarke taking second spot on 32 points. Beth Kee won the 9 hole competition.
