Ladies section

Claire Ussher came second on 31 points and Heather Patterson took third on 30 points.

Saturday’s Competition was won with 33 points by Debbie McMaster, second place and just one point behind went to Caroline Watson.

This year the ladies section has entered into the Interclub Minor Cup ILGU Competition for Handicaps 23-29.

The ladies were drawn in a preliminary round against Kilrea Golf Club. For the early home leg it was the first 18 holes that many of the girls had played this year.

First out was Karen Legrand who led in her match from the start. Karen played very steadily and finished her match at the top of the hill on the fifteenth with a win of five and three.

Next out was Sally Cushnahan who had a very tight match which unfortunately finished in Kilrea’s favour with a two and one win.

In the middle of the team was Heather Fleming who had a very tight match with her counterpart and came off the eighteenth with her match all square.

As all matches had to be played to conclusion, the girls set off down the first hole again. Heather holed a 20 foot putt to halve the hole and take the match to the second play off hole which she duly won to post her match score as one up.

Diane Hunter was the fourth out and, after having been down for most of her match, to her credit, she dug deep to turn it round to win on the eighteenth hole, one up.

Elaine Thompson was the anchor player who had a steady match to halve it on the eighteenth. Elaine held her nerve and sank her four foot putt to win the tie hole and let Edenmore head to Kilrea 4-1 and six holes up.

The Edenmore girls headed to Kilrea on Thursday, March 29. Heather Fleming was still third out but after 10 holes, was an amazing six up in her match.

She managed to close out her match on the fifteenth hole with a five and three victory for the first match in. Just moments later, Karen, who had been four down at the eighth, had fought back to win on the seventeenth, two and one.
