Ladies waltz their way around Lisburn course

TUESDAY saw the traditional end of season fun competition for the ladies at Lisburn Golf Club. Unfortunately, as so often this summer, the weather didn’t provide much fun for those hardy souls who braved the elements to play a team “waltz” competition.

Fortunately sustenance was at hand with a tasty meal for all the participants who had gathered for the annual prize ceremony.

The outstanding prize winner of 2012 was Mrs Barbara Hawkins who won a terrific total of four trophies as well as being runner-up in the Summer Ringer competition! Her haul of silverware included The Ridges Cup, Brodie Salver, Boyd Plate and the Heathrene Cup for the most merit points throughout the season.

Other notable prize winners were Mrs Lynda Eagleson who won both the Kee Trophy and the inaugural Janice Orr Trophy and the Captain Mrs Janice Wallace who won the top honours as the Club Champion.

Obviously a fantastic year for Janice both on the golf course and off where she carried off her Captain’s duties with style.

Full list of Prize Winners: Guide Dog Cup - Mrs Maureen Charleton, Bridge Bowl - Mrs Valerie Rooney, McClelland Cup - Mrs Hazel Brown, McMillan Cup - Mrs Margaret Boomer, Martha Hayes Cup - Mrs Maureen Bryson, Henry Trophy - Mrs Noeni Bryars and Irish Mail Foursomes - Mrs Sylvia McKelvey & Mrs Hazel Henderson. The ILGU prizes were lifted by Mrs Judi Henry, Mrs Carol McBratney and Mrs Noeni Bryars.

The Summer Ringer, Birdie and Par competitions saw both Noeni and Judi featuring again along with Mrs Ida Ross, Mrs Anne Hegan and Mrs Maureen Charleton.

The Ladies Branch are now looking forward to their Winter League competition which seems teams representing the world of nursery rhymes competing for the honours.
