Lady Captain’s Day at Ballymena Golf Club

EVELYN Allen proved to be a woman for the big occasion as Ballymena Golf Club celebrated Lady Captain’s Day at the Raceview course last Tuesday.

Lady Captain Janet Gaston’s top prize was presented to Evelyn after her excellent stableford score of 41 points saw her finish well ahead of the rest of the field.

Despite the changeable weather, competitors enjoyed a competitive battle on the course and then the festivities in the clubhouse in the evening.

Jacqui Brown won the Section A prize with 35 points, the Section B award was claimed by Colette Delargy (36) and Margaret Stockman came out tops in Section C with a 34 points haul.

The gross prize went to Heather McGarry with 18 while the visitors prize was collected by Penny Patterson, with 17 points.

The men played in a 13-hole event and Ronnie Anderson took the top prize with 32 points, three ahead of runner-up, Alec Stewart.

Committee - Jennifer Eagleson (34); Front 9 - Sandra Lennox (18); Back 9 - Margaret Logan (19); Nearest the Pin at the 4th - Norma Richardson; Longest Drive at the 18th - Eileen Hudson; Putting Competition - Yvonne Fullerton (33); 9-Hole Ladies - Jenny McCooke (19).
