As the second most important date in the ladies fixture list, the competition was well supported as the ladies competed for the beautiful display of golfing themed prizes.

The President welcomed her visitors and especially her daughter Lisa and her first grandchild Hannah Rose who helped make her day so special and a special thanks to her husband Mervyn for his unstinting support.

The trend, first seen at Captain’s Day, of the more “mature” players coming good on the big occasion, was replicated with the majority of the prizes being won by the more experienced members.

In first place was Mrs Claire Warwick with a fantastic score of nett 66. Claire commented that her round was remarkable for the putts she sank on what were very fast greens. Claire was the proud recipient of a Taylor Made Rescue club, so no doubt we’ll be seeing more big performances once she gets it going.

In second place on 72, with a better back 9, was Daphne Bailie who pipped Hazel Brown into 3rd place. Best Gross was won by the Honorary Secretary, Julie Robinson with a score of 89.

Joan McClements won the best front nine with a 34 and the back nine honours went to Hilary Morrison with a 37. The best of the 9 hole competition players was Mrs Beth Kee and the Gent’s prize went to Chris Furfey with 22 points.

The ladies enjoyed a meal and for Miss Lily Spence the occasion was particularly memorable as she was serenaded by a singing chef to mark her 90th birthday.
