Lambeg Captain wins President’s Prize

After the poor weather all week, Club President Ritchie Gorman could not have wished for a better day on Saturday for his Lambeg GC President’s Day.

With warm sunshine, a slight breeze and the course once again in excellent condition, good scores were expected and it was Club Captain Stephen Boyd (22) who returned the best card to win the President’s Cup with a brilliant 44 points.

Stephen won after a count-back over Aidan Daly, who put in an excellent performance to also finished on 44 points. Aidan double bogeyed a couple of holes in the back nine but it was still enough to secure the First Prize.

JP McGeough took the second prize with 43 points with an impressive all round game of golf, finishing with 41 points. Ivor Harron finished third with 41 points.

Once again, the shot-gun start format was used and proved to be very successful. An excellent barbecue was put on by The Chipped Potato in the clubhouse immediately after the competition and was then followed by the prizegiving.

WEDNESDAY HAT

The Wednesday Hat was won by Raymond Rodgers with a fantastic 45 pts.

NB There is no competition for the men next week as it is Lady’s Charity Day.
