Last four decided for Spring League

THE quarter-finals of the Pitchers Restaurant Spring League at Foyle were completed over the weekend and all four matches were very evenly contested with the leading Qualifiers Team 14 and runners up Team 11, who held the favorites tag going out of this years competition at the first hurdle.

Team 24 of Rob Ewing, Declan Ryan, David Wilson and Brendan Gallagher defeated Team 14 by 1 hole; Team 13 of Tommy Bradley, Stephen Powell, Darren Bradley and Lawerance Powell defeated Team 7 by 4 holes; Team 15 of Kieran Bradley, Steve Moore, Joe Bradley and Martin Loughrey defeated Team 21 by 2 holes and Team 3 of Ciaran Gillen, Ryan Gillen, Scott Kennedy and John Morrison defeated Team 11 by 1 hole.

The draw for the semi-finals is as follows: Team 24 versus Team 13 and Team 15 face Team 3. With all matches to be played by Sunday, April 14.

Foyle Golf Club held the Club Qualifying for the G.U.I Ulster Branch Centenary fourball betterball competition on Saturday and with an excellent entry taking to the Ballyarnett course which is in exceptional condition on a fine day.

It was going to take an exceptional score to win the competition and Kevin Thomas and Kevin Crumley obliged with a fantastic score of 46 points to win by three points from their nearest challengers and will now go to North West Golf Club on Sunday, June 23, hoping to secure one of the four places on offer for the final at The Royal Belfast Golf Club on 1st September.

The Crumley Construction Monthly medal was claimed by Scott Kennedy, Ciaran O’Doherty and Kevin McDermott.

The club’s Captains Mr George Fitzpatrick and Faye McGrotty will hold their drive in on Friday, April 19, at 5.15pm, following the drive in there will be a 9 hole Scramble for Ladies Gents and Juveniles with a shot gun start at 5.30pm.

A prize presentation and light refreshments to follow, a sheet for the Scramble is posted in the Shop and all Members taking part are asked to enter their names on or before Thursday, April 18, when the draw for Teams will take place.

The draw for the Rankin Machine Tool Services Foursomes Club Championship is on the notice board with the preliminary and first round matches to be played before May 1st, while today (Wednesday) until Sunday the Qualifying Pairs sponsored by Brickkiln takes place, while also on Sunday Foyle Sunday Society Away Day takes place in Rossapenna (Tom Morris Course).

All Members going are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop and check all details for the trip.
