Liam returns the best card

Liam went around the front nine in three over which equalled 20 points with one birdie at the 4th hole, his back nine of 20 points again contained one birdie at the 13th hole for his total of 40 points and a win by one point.

In second place with 39 points was Dessie O’Hara, he had 19 pts on his front nine with five bogeys and four pars. The back nine included three birdies at the 12th 15th and 18th holes and but for an ugly 8 on the 11th he could have won this competition.

Third place again with 39 points and with the best score of the day with a two over par was John Marley.

He went round the front nine in one over par with two birdies at the 1st and 4th holes, his back nine contained only one bogey at the 17th hole with eight pars and a solid round of golf.

The gross prize was picked up by Kevin Munster with a four over gross score.

He went round the front nine in three over par and a back nine of one over was good enough to win this gross prize.

In fourth place was Paul Lavery with 39 points. Paul had 20 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 8th hole, he had 19 points on his back nine again with one birdie at the 18th hole for his total of 39 pts.

Fifth place was claimed by Paul Marner with 38 points .

He had 21 points on his front nine and 17 points on his back nine while the senior prize was collected by Eamon McCusker with 37 points.

Section winners were as follows: 0-12 Declan McGeown 37 pts; 13-18 Derek Boyd 37 pts; 19-28 Michael Frazer 38 pts.

Last Thursday evening the club held a rules night at the ski and golf centre presented by the Ulster GUI with the chairman Peter Sinclair, the secretary Kevin Stevens and committee members Norman Bennett and Tom Jones present.

It was an excellent evening and a very informative night and the members left with a lot more knowledge of the new and existing rules of the game of golf. The club would like to thank the Ulster GUI for taking the time to come to the club to present this course.
