Lisburn course reopens after rain
The course had to be shortened to avoid very damp areas with five ‘par threes’ on the front nine which reduced the par to 32.
Despite the increased number of par threes there were surprisingly few birdie twos. Stephen Shaw (4) was the only competitor to score two twos. This helped him towards a total 24 points which was sufficient to win Division 1. Martin Lilly (7) second, finished one point behind with Richard McDermott (6) edging out John Price for third place on count back.
Roy Welch (19) was a clear winner of Division 2 with 24 points. Norman Lambe (17) and Martin McDonald (18) finished on 22 with Norman’s better finish giving him second place.
Fred Welsh (20) and Chris Warwick (22) topped Division 3 with 21 points. Fred got the verdict for first place. Chris Scott (20) edged out Wesley Haslett for third place after they both scored 20 points
John Dale hit the ‘shot of the day’ when he holed his second shot at the ‘par three’ ninth for five points. This raised his tally to eight!
