Lost in Fred Daly final

THE Fred Daly event was the highlight of the weekend for the younger membership.

In the semi-final of this prestigious Ulster event on Sunday the young Lurgan boys confronted Royal Portrush in the first semi-final at Tandragee.

In a great battle they went through by winning the necessary four matches.

In the afternoon final they came up against County Antrim team Cairndhu who had eliminated Clandeboye. In a closely fought contest Lurgan lost the first four matches but were in front in the bottom three.

It was a wonderful display by Lurgan to reach the final of this big competition and they were wonderful ambassadors for the club over the series of matches in the 2012 tournament.

In the Juvenile competitions played on Thursday, August 2, there was some quality play in both the boys and girls events.

The results were as follows: boys’ winner, Niall Robinson 43pts with Jack Wilson on 41 and Ryan Conway on 38; girls’ winner: Niamh Ward (6) 37pts with Naomi Matthews and Niamh McSheerry (5) on 37pts.
