Lowest score of year nets prize for Anette

Anette Kilbinger won the ladies Centenary Trophy with the lowest score of the year so far, a nett 62.

At the start of the day Anette was a 25 handicapper and recorded 5 pars, and a birdie 3 at the 5th on her card.

This was great shooting and Anette is living proof of the old saying that hard work brings reward, as no-one works harder or enjoys their golf more than Anette.

Anette started the year with a handicap of 27 and has reduced it to 22, at this stage, so a great year’s golf and a worthy winner of the Centenary Trophy.

The gross prize went to the ever improving Maeve Cummins with a gross 76. Fresh from putting in a good performance at the Irish Girls Championship Maeve continued her good golf finishing with a one over par back nine and a very impressive birdie 3 at the lengthy 18th hole courtesy of two fine shots to the green and a single putt. Section one went to Christine Hagan with a nett 68.

Claire White just pipped Grizel Turkington on the count back for the section two prize with a nett 70.

Section three went to Rosemary Callender with a nett 70. Marie Warnock won the 9 hole prize.

Great results for all the ladies and certainly a trophy winning score for Anette so congratulations to all the winners.

The ILGU announced the Irish Team for the Girls Home Internationals to be held at Donabate Golf Club on 6th – 8th August. Lurgan Golf Club members Niamh McSherry and Annabel Wilson have been named on the team with Niamh Ward named as reserve. Congratulations and especially to Annabel who will receive her first international pin.
