The home leg was played on Sunday and Lurgan knew that Tandragee, who were beaten finalists last year, would come at them and they duly did but the boys rose to the challenge and held them off. Wins for Kenny Hanna and Colin Robb, Timmy Jenks and Neill Dillon, Brian Doley and Chris Donald with Brian Clarke and Wilson Collins earning a half match.

It was a magnificent team effort from the first match away back in April right through to the final at the weekend. The team beat Mayobridge, Armagh, Cloverhill, Edenmore and Tandragee. The last time Lurgan competed in the Rossmore Cup final was 1988 and 1989 when unfortunately they were beaten on both occasions. We have to go right back to 1979 to see our name on the cup. Hopefully it won’t be as long again. Well done to the entire squad of players who represented Lurgan in all the matches.
