Veteran Francie Tallon looked well in control of his match but a great fightback from the Mannon Castle player meant the points were shared.

Ciaran Seeley and Eamon Lynch both fought epic battles in the worst of the weather with both players securing late victories to put Lurgan back in with a chance. Jason McCann was 3 down with 4 to play and at this stage Mannon Castle had victory in sight. Jason then produced the comeback of the tournament with birdies on 3 of the last 4 holes to edge Lurgan in front.

Andrew Cummings was last man out for Lurgan and indeed his point on the front 9 were enough to give the home club victory and bring the Senior Cowdy Cup back to Lurgan.

Team Captain Damian Murphy said, “This was the closest and most exciting tie I have ever been involved in. When things got close our side proved what a strong team we are and giving us a victory that will be remembered for a long time.”
